If you’re a fan of tangy, bold flavors, this Fish Ambul Thiyal recipe will become a favorite. Made with Delight Spicy Black Pepper and Turmeric, this traditional Sri Lankan dish is known for its punchy taste and sour notes from goraka.
Ingredients:
- 500g firm fish (tuna works best), cut into cubes
- 2 tsp Delight Spicy Black Pepper
- 1 tsp Delight Spicy Turmeric Powder
- 2 tsp goraka (or tamarind) paste
- 4 garlic cloves, sliced
- 1-inch ginger, sliced
- 1 tsp Delight Spicy Mustard Seeds
- 10 curry leaves
- 2 green chilies, sliced
- 1 tbsp oil
- Salt to taste
Instructions:
- Marinate the fish with Delight Spicy Turmeric Powder, Black Pepper, salt, and goraka. Let it rest for 30 minutes to absorb the flavors.
- Heat oil in a pan. Add Delight Spicy Mustard Seeds, curry leaves, garlic, and ginger. Sauté until fragrant.
- Gently add the marinated fish and green chilies to the pan. Stir carefully to coat the fish in the spices.
- Cover and cook on low heat for 15-20 minutes until the fish is cooked through and the sauce is thick.
- Serve with rice or string hoppers for a traditional Sri Lankan experience.
